Why I Built This

Newsletter creators pour hundreds of hours into building an audience, refining their voice, and delivering consistent value to subscribers week after week. Yet when someone asks “What is your newsletter actually worth?” — most creators have no idea. They know it's valuable, they know it represents real work, but they've never been able to put a concrete number on it.

That gap between effort and understanding bothered me. I started researching how newsletters get valued when they're bought, sold, or invested in. The methodology itself isn't complicated — it's based on profit multiples, similar to how any small business gets appraised. But the information was scattered across broker sites and private investor communities, and there was no simple, free tool that let everyday creators run the numbers for themselves.

So I built one. No signup required, no hidden catch, no sales funnel. Just straightforward inputs, transparent math, and a result you can actually use.

How the Tool Works

The calculator uses the profit multiple method — the same framework that newsletter marketplaces, brokers, and acquirers apply when evaluating digital media businesses. It factors in your subscriber base, monthly growth rate, revenue, content production costs, and operating expenses. From there, it projects your trajectory over three years, applies a risk-adjusted profit calculation, and multiplies by an industry-standard 3x multiple to arrive at a fair market estimate.

Every step is transparent. You can read the full methodology breakdown to understand exactly how each variable influences your final number.

What You'll Find Here

Beyond the valuation tool, this site hosts a growing library of free resources covering newsletter strategy, monetization, pricing, audience growth, and business metrics. Every guide is written to be practical and actionable — not vague advice, but specific frameworks with real numbers you can apply to your own newsletter today.

Topics range from calculating subscriber lifetime value and choosing between paid and free models, to optimizing open rates, setting the right price, and understanding what acquirers look for when purchasing newsletter businesses.

The Philosophy

Keep it simple, keep it useful, keep it free. This project exists because I believe newsletter creators deserve better tools and better information for making business decisions. If this tool helps you make even one smarter call about your newsletter — whether that's adjusting your pricing, investing in growth, or understanding what you've actually built — then it's done its job.

If you have feedback, ideas, or just want to say hello, I'd love to hear from you at kosta@ristovskiconsulting.com or on LinkedIn.

Good Luck Out There

Building a newsletter is one of the most rewarding things you can do online — but it's also real work, and the business side doesn't always get the attention it deserves. Whether you're just getting started with your first hundred subscribers or running an established list with thousands of readers, the fact that you're thinking about the value of what you've built puts you ahead of most.

I genuinely hope this tool and the resources here help you along the way. Here's to great writing, engaged readers, and the kind of growth that makes it all worth it.
